Peninsula Kitchens
Almost an island, in the middle of space
The peninsula extends from the wall instead of being loose in the center. It provides you with the bar where you can have breakfast and that separation with the living room that you are looking for, but it fits in kitchens where an island cannot.

When the peninsula wins over the island
If your kitchen is less than three and a half meters wide, the island will hinder you more than help you. The peninsula solves the same issue supported at one end: it only needs free passage on one side.
And there is an advantage that is not visible in the plan: when coming out of the wall, bringing water or electricity to it is much simpler and cheaper than crossing the floor to the center of the room.
The bar: where life ends up happening
It is the place where children do their homework while dinner is being prepared and where people stay when they come home. It is worth thinking about it carefully.
For a comfortable breakfast, about 30 cm of countertop space and 60 cm of width per person are needed. With that, two stools fit without feeling cramped; with a little more, three.
