What does a complete kitchen renovation include in Playa Flamenca?

When we say comprehensive renovation, we mean that we have solutions for everything. We enter with the kitchen set up and leave with the kitchen installed and functioning. We work with collaborating companies for all trades.

  • Disassembly and removal. We take out the old furniture and take the debris to the recycling point. We do not leave it in your hallway.
  • Plumbing and electricity. We check the water and electricity connections. If changes or adaptations to the regulations are necessary, we have collaborating companies to do it.
  • Furniture and countertop. Custom manufacturing, assembly, and adjustment on site, including the countertop.
  • Appliances. If you want, we can install them and leave them connected and tested.

Closed budget: the price of the first day is that of the invoice.

The scare of a renovation is not usually the initial budget, it’s the extras that appear halfway through the work. We measure your kitchen before giving you a number, and that number doesn’t change unless you change something.

If when opening a wall something appears that couldn’t be seen — a damaged drain, an old installation — we show it to you, give you the separate cost, and you decide. You will never find it in the final invoice without having discussed it.

What the kitchens are like in Playa Flamenca

Around two weeks for units and doors.
How long from accepting the quote to the fitting?
About two weeks, which is what the manufacturing takes, depending on the kitchen. The dates are always in the quote.
Can the quote change during the job?
Only if you add or remove something.
What surprises can come up during a renovation?
The usual ones are a water or power point that has to be worked around because of where it sits. We try to foresee everything before starting so there are as few surprises as possible.
What has to be decided before the work starts?
The layout and the plan for the units, where the services go, the colour, the finishes and where the appliances sit.
When is the final measuring done?
When the quote is signed off. We go over and check every measurement so nothing goes wrong at the fitting.
Who coordinates the electricians, plumbers, builders and fitters?
We do, whether the building team is yours or ours. We run the whole job and every trade involved, so you do not have to hire anyone yourself.
Do I have to be at home during the work?
There is no need. We take care of everything.
Can the work be done while I am abroad?

Can you do a 3D design before starting?

About 90 cm of clearance.
What is the difference between melamine, laminate and lacquer?
Melamine is the lowest grade and we do not use it. We start from laminate board, surfaced in the final colour of the kitchen. The best grade is lacquer: MDF board spray-finished in a booth, with the best finish to look at as well.
Which kitchen doors are the most hard-wearing?
The lacquered ones.
Are pull-out drawers worth it?
These days every drawer pulls out, with different runner systems depending on the maker and the model.
How long does a good-quality kitchen last?
It depends on use and upkeep, but a high-quality lacquered kitchen can last decades.
Are integrated appliances better?
Appliances work the same either way. The difference is how it looks, and that comes down to taste.
Can I keep my current appliances?
Yes, we refit them in the new kitchen.
Do I need an extractor hood if the kitchen is open-plan?
Yes. Every kitchen needs extraction.
Can the washing machine and dishwasher be hidden?
Yes. We build a unit around the appliance so it can be on show or out of sight.
Can the sink be moved?
Yes, but it means plumbing work.
Can the hob be moved?
Yes. It means electrical work to move the supply point.
Can the sockets be moved?
Yes. As with the hob, the electrician can move them or add new ones.
Do the tiles have to come off, or can the old ones be covered?
The old ones can stay and, if you like, be covered with splashbacks, panelling or cladding, or even tiled over.
Can I replace just the units?
Yes. We reuse whatever can be reused.
Can the kitchen be renewed without building work?
Yes. Swapping the units, as long as we do not move power or water points, means no building work.
Can the doors be replaced while keeping the units?
Yes, though it is worth checking first that the carcasses are in good shape.
Can I change only the countertop and the sink?
Yes. We check that the rest of the units are in good shape.
What does the quote for a kitchen renovation in Playa Flamencainclude?
Each project is different, but at a minimum, it includes all the modules, doors, handles, guides, countertop, sink with faucet and assembly, including the extractor hood. We can also add appliances, cooktop (induction or ceramic). Two years on materials and hardware, and the manufacturer is responsible for the appliances according to their own warranty. Everything in writing.
Is a work permit necessary in Playa Flamenca??
No, if you are only changing furniture and countertops. If walls are being altered or plumbing is being moved, then prior communication with the town hall from Playa Flamenca is required.
Can I stay at home during the work?
Yes. We work during normal hours, protect the passage, and clean up at the end of each day. What you won’t be able to do is cook, so it’s advisable to have a plan for those days.
How long will I be without a kitchen?
Counting from the day we start at your place: between two and three weeks for a full renovation, and less than a week if we are only changing the units. The fitting itself is two days; the rest is getting ready and whatever work is needed. We put the timeline in writing in the quote, and we fit in Playa Flamenca with our own team, so it does not depend on third parties.
